Hey guys, Neo here
It's the 4th of July and all around America people are celebrating independence! In fact, as I'm typing this post, I still hear some fireworks. However, today does not only have to be about us here in America. MLMC has a few updates ready to be launched on Saturday, July 7th that will give all of you a reason to celebrate a little, and maybe cry a little if you liked making a lot of money. I will get the worst stuff out of the way first.
Towny Tax Change
Hopefully most of you have already seen this, but towny upkeep tax is being adjusted in order to be a little more hard-hitting than before. Before you freak out, you should notice that for the most part, small towns are unaffected. It is only the gargantuan towns that should plan appropriately, and perhaps be a bit more choosy with their invites so as to allow the other towns fair chance to grow.
Farmer's Market Changes
I'll be direct. Cactus prices are going to be nerfed. It's unfortunate, but I can guarantee you without a sliver of doubt that if you ask anyone on the server what the best method of making money is (provided you have the rank), it will be cactus farms. Cactus is still by far the most popular and most efficient way to make money, and we are looking to allow for other ways of making money so that not everyone has to make their own enormous farm to make money. In the future we will be looking to expand money-making methods so that doing repeatable quests, boss chest grinding, and additional admin shops allow for more avenues than we have now. However, we are also buffing other plants to be more profitable so as to further encourage the shift away from cactus.
Bonus Plot Changes
First and foremost, because I know many people will make this mistake: This is referring to /t buy, NOT /t claim.
This may be a smaller change that fewer care about, but may also be important due to the tax changes and mayors perhaps being less inclined to add players. Currently, purchasing a bonus towny plot costs 1k. As of this update, they will be raised to 10k, but the bonus plot limit will be raised from 100 to 1000. Any towns who currently have bonus plots purchased will have their bonus plots divided by 10, rounded up. Don't worry if this means your town will end up having more claimed plots than available plots, it just means you won't be able to claim more until you get more available plots.
That's it for the bad stuff. Hopefully it wasn't too bad!
This will be our second recipe rework as we gradually get to better understand the utility of recipes. When they were first released, recipes were only collected for novelty, and were very rarely actually used. Now as we see a bit more utility being brought out to be used as more players face up the immense challenge of the bonus isles, we see that only a select few recipes are worth making.
As a response, we will be essentially buffing all recipes across the board to make them more worth making. This will come at no cost to you, you will still have every single recipe you've learned. The food you've made will simply have new effects once you eat them. We are hoping to allow for a little more diversity, and perhaps some creativity when facing bosses. If we're lucky, recipes may even become valuable enough to earn a spot in a profitable sector of the economy.
Part of this rework has already been released, and these are simple, but important, quality of life changes for recipes. Food now has a global cooldown. When you eat any food, you must wait 10 seconds before eating any other food. This is to prevent chugging different foods to get yourself out of a bad spot. You are now able to see what cooldowns your food has when you try to eat it. And finally, you will receive a message when the cooldown of a food expires and you may eat it again.
There are some fantastic creations in the towny world that go unnoticed on the server, and it's nigh time that our towny side of the server had a few updates that improve quality of life. Upon reaching the rank of Sir/Dame, players will be able to purchase and set a warp anywhere they want for 25k, and it will go onto a list of player warps. The warp can be named and have a simple description, and will remain for exactly 1 week. Afterwards, the warp is deleted. You may only have one warp at a time (though you can delete it anytime). Place a warp at your town and show off to all those who are interested! Place a warp at your own market and convince others that it's better than /warp market! Place a warp at a parkour course and challenge others! There are many things you can do, so have fun with it!
It's time for MLMC to go a little bit FarmVille on everyone. We all know how painful it is to plant wheat seeds slowly on your enormous farm, and for the most part, that is why everyone makes cactus farms instead. So we're trying to mitigate that. Starting from the Lord/Lady rank, you will be able to purchase the /tractor command that will allow you to plant 2 seeds at once. Then, at the Count/Countess rank, you will be able to purchase a tractor that plants in a 2x2 square. This continues all the way up to the God/Goddess rank that can plant a whopping 4x4 square for every click! Tractors can plant any seed that goes into tilled soil, and can also plant nether wart.
Minor Boss Reworks
Our staff members Shanachan and Mackelsaur have been hard at work making some important updates to Low District and Harvest Fields bosses to update them to our new standards, and soon you will see the fruits of their labor. But don't get too excited, these are mostly visual updates, as most bosses had very difficult to understand particles for their skills, unlike shiny new bosses like Lucius and the Bonus Bosses. This is mostly a consistency update for our aging bosses. However, with this update comes a new wave of features that we are testing.
Bosses will now be less forgiving with their crowd control abilities, as you will see they are now able to truly stun, root, silence, and disarm players. We are only starting with basic crowd control as this is a developing feature, but you may soon see bosses that are able to drain your mana, lower your attributes temporarily, or even curse you so that any healing you receive instead damages you. As the players evolve, so will the bosses! Make sure you are prepared.
On an entirely different tangent, our bonus bosses Blackwater Siren, Lillith, and Zaphkiel will be equipped with these new features, but will also be nerfed a bit. It's been 4 months and the death toll continues to rise, with the number of people who have beaten the first boss still in the single digits. It's time to tone the fights down just a touch. Don't worry though, they're still going to be mind-numbingly difficult!
For the time being, that's all for our updates, but I assure you we are constantly working on more updates and there are more things being developed that are just around the corner. As always, we couldn't have done this without your support! On behalf of staff, we thank you for continuing to support our server, and we hope to continue to live up to your expectations. Expect more soon!
